The Kettle Moraine Northern Unit is comprised of about 30,000 acres
stretching 30 miles across Sheboygan, Fond du Lac, and Washington Counties. The forest is managed for multiple use, including recreation management, sustainable forest products, water quality and soil protection, terrestrial and aquatic wildlife, native biological diversity, and aesthetics.

Loud-mouth Jays Nature Storytime

Screech! Chatter, chatter! The blue jays announce their presence to the world. Join us as we try to decipher what the jays are trying to say. This hour of nature fun awaits 3 to 6 year olds with accompanying adults.

Wild Turkeys - A Wildlife Success Story
Evening with Nature Program

Join Dan Weidert, DNR Wildlife Biologist, as he shares the story of the wild turkey's amazing reintroduction in our state and Jackie Scharfenberg, Forest Naturalist, as she describes its fascinating life history. This program is best for people over the age of 10 years old.

The Joy of Nature Journaling Exploring Nature Program
March 12, 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. (Saturday)
Ice Age Visitor Center (located off Hwy 67 half mile west of Dundee)
A nature journal is a great way to remember your outdoor experiences. Discover some tips on keeping a journal and ways to get started. Afterward, turn your creative energies loose as you make very own hand-bound journal. This program is best for people over the age of 8 years old. To register, call (920) 533-8322 by March 10.

Rat-a-tat-tat, Who's There? Woodpeckers Nature Storytime
March 17, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. (Thursday)
March 18, 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. (Friday)

Why do woodpeckers peck trees? What are they looking for? We'll find out the answers to these questions and a lot more about woodpeckers. This hour of nature fun awaits 3 to 6 year olds with accompanying adults.

Reading Adventures with MJ, the Dog
March 19, 10:00-11:30 a.m. (Saturday)
Ice Age Visitor Center (located off Hwy 67 half mile west of Dundee)
Drop in to read a bird nature story to MJ, a trained therapy dog. This is a great opportunity for early elementary students to practice their reading skills. Use one of the books provided or bring your own. Make a craft before or after your time with MJ.

April Showers Nature Storytime

Drip, drop, pitter-pat. April showers fall to the ground. We'll find out just how these rains help awaken the spring flowers. This hour of nature fun awaits 3 to 6 year olds with accompanying adults.

Upscaled Art Exploring Nature Program

Ice Age Visitor Center (located off Hwy 67 half mile west of Dundee)
Don't throw that away! It can be turned into a work of art! Come create inner tube rubber stamps, paper bead necklaces, and other unique projects. This program is best for families/groups with children between the ages of 6 and 12 years. To register, call (920) 533-8322 by April 8.

Connie Ramthun and Bill Volkert, naturalist, took seven and half months to travel around the world. Join them as they share the highlights and wonders from their amazing once in a lifetime journey. This program is most appropriate for people over the age of 10 years old.

Shhhh! Listen Nature Storytime

Spring Symphony Night Hike

Zillmer Trail Area (located off County Road SS between County Road G and Hwy 67 near New Prospect)
Nature awakens from its long winter slumber with a symphony of sound. Journey through the darkening spring woods to locate who are the members of the spring choir. This hike is most appropriate for adults and children over the age of 6 years.

Earth Week Litter Pick Up

April 23, 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (Saturday)
Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive
(Meet at the Forest Headquarters off County Road G south of County Road SS near New Prospect)
Help give the Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive a spring cleaning. Join others for a morning of camaraderie and litter pick up. Youth and other groups are encouraged to participate. Bring your own gloves. Garbage bags will be provided. Meet at the Forest Headquarters off County Road G to get your road assignment. After cleaning up, return to the Headquarters for snacks and refreshments.
