their shells. Come uncover some of their tricks for

being invaded not by outer space aliens but by alien plants
and animals. Uncover what foreign species are taking over
our native communities and what can be done to help control
their spread. You will have a chance to make several unique
crafts including a smashed-plant bandanna. Bring your own
bandanna or purchase one that day for a small fee. Drop in
for a few minutes or more than an hour for some nature fun.
Adults are encouraged to participate with the children.

day. Susan Borkin from the Milwaukee Public Museum will

adventure through the Red Oak Habitat Protection Area and
Red Oak State Natural Area. Learn how this special forest
is being managed and explore the area for its unique
resident plants and animals. We will meet at the Greenbush
Kettle Parking Lot and then car pool to the Red Oaks State
Natural Area. This program is most appropriate for adults
and youth over 12 years old.

and friends from the Northeast Wisconsin Paddlers will

how to connect with classes and kayaking groups. This

The 12 Hours of Northern Kettles Mountain Biking
Challenge
May 22, 8:00 am - 8:00 pm (Saturday)
Greenbush
Trails (located off Kettle Moraine Drive between Hwy T and
Hwy 67 near Greenbush)
Discover
the challenge and camaraderie of endurance mountain biking
on the Greenbush Trails. There will be solo classes and
team relays that can compete in 12-hour, 6-hour, or 3-hour
challenges. This is part of the Wisconsin Endurance
Mountain Bike Series (WEMS). Funds raised at this event are
used to develop new trails and/or maintain the trails
already in use. For

Ice Age at the Beach Exploring Nature Program

activities from one of the first four topic areas of the

fishing fun begin! The rodeo includes Backyard Bass
Casting, Fill the Tackle box, Fishing Regulations Quiz,
Avoiding Hazards, Just Not Knots, What’s that Fish? and
Baiting your Hook. After completing the rodeo, experienced
anglers on the fishing pier will help hone your newly
acquired skills. Special surprises and prizes await all who
participate. Bring your own gear or fishing gear will be

Lake-2-Lake 10K Trail Run/Hike

Fun Walk Around Mauthe Lake

Join us
for the second annual Lake-2-Lake 10K Trail Run/Hike being
held on the Lake-to-Lake bike trail between Long Lake and
Mauthe Lake. There is also the 2-mile Family Fun Walk
Around Mauthe Lake traversing the Tamarack Trail. The
run/hike and walk start at 10:00 am. Registration is from
8:00 to 9:30 am. Cost of the run/hike is $20/person until
May 7, $25/person between May 8 and May 21, and $28/person
after May 21. The Family Fun Walk fee is $12/person or
$40/family. The fee includes an event T-shirt (if
registered by May 21), a goodie bag and light snacks.
Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Kettle Moraine, the
Long Lake Preservation Association and the Dundee Long Lake

marvel at those fly fishing anglers, but can’t quite figure
out how they do it? Come to Mauthe Lake to learn from an
experienced fly fisher the correct way to use fly fishing
gear and tackle to catch a whole variety of fish. Bring
your own gear, if you have some. A limited number of rods
and reels will be available for participants’ use. Class

to Fish Rodeo Drop In at the Beach

Let the
fishing fun begin! The rodeo includes Backyard Bass
Casting, Fill the Tackle box, Fishing Regulations Quiz,
Avoiding Hazards, Just Not Knots, What’s that Fish? and
Baiting your Hook. After completing the rodeo, experienced
anglers on the fishing pier will help hone your newly
acquired skills. Special surprises and prizes await all who
participate. Bring your own gear or fishing gear will be
provided for those who need it. The rodeo is best for
people over the age of 6 years old. Anyone over 16 years
old need a valid fishing license to fish.

Bike Trail
Hop on
your bicycle to peddle at a leisurely pace along the
Lake-to-Lake Bike Trail between the Mauthe Lake and Long
Lake Recreation Areas. As we peddle we will investigate the
natural habitats traversed by the trail. This is about an
eight mile round trip. You need to provide your own
bicycle, helmet and other bicycling gear. In the event of
severe weather, the program will be canceled. Meet at the
Mauthe Lake Pet Picnic Area Parking Lot (located off Hwy
GGG south of Hwy SS near New Prospect). This program is
most appropriate for adults and youth over 12 years old.

Geocaching

help of the Wisconsin Geocaching Association learn how to
use a hand-held GPS device and compass, and how to read a
topographic map. Then try your new skills as you search for
hidden treasures at selected geocache locations. This

Climb a Kame Outdoor Adventure

After
the glaciers melted away, they left behind a very
distinctive landscape. Join us as we climb Dundee Mountain
to gain a better understanding of how the glaciers created
kames, eskers, moraines, kettles and outwash plains. The
trail is one and half miles long and it does require hiking
up and down a steep hill. We will meet at the Ice Age
Visitor Center and then car pool the three miles to the
Summit Trail on Dundee Mountain. This program is most
appropriate for adults and youth over 12 years old.
