DANDELION FESTIVAL IN MOUNT CALVARY
The dandelion season has arrived with
lots of cheerful yellow blossoms. To celebrate the return
of nature’s green and gold, a “Dandelion Festival” is
planned for May 8, 2010 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the
Sunseed Eco-Education Center in Mount Calvary. All kinds of
fun opportunities will be offered to people of all ages.
What better way to welcome spring!
The festival will
include: a dandelion food baking and cooking contest at
11:00 am with opportunities for public tasting at 11:45;
regular lunch food for sale by the Sisters of Notre Dame;
dandelion products available for purchase from The Village
Market; artisan dandelion breads for purchase from
RealBread; free hands-on dandelion crafting for children
and adults; participation in songs, rhythms and stories
told by Lady Dandelion; an opportunity for walking the
labyrinth through dandelions; a wine making demonstration
at 1:00 pm by The Cellar; and a chance to learn all kinds
of facts about this very important plant ally.
The Dandelion Festival is being sponsored by the Sisters of
Notre Dame, the Fond du Lac County Audubon Society, and the
Eco-Food Committee of Open Circle Unitarian Church. The
Sunseed Eco-Education Center is located at the western edge
of Mt. Calvary at 110 Notre Dame Street. Signs will be
posted helping to direct traffic. There is no admission
charge, although donations are appreciated. If the weather
permits, the festival will be held outside but there are
some indoor facilities in the event of rain.
Anyone interested in entering the dandelion food baking and
cooking contest should check the rules at
www.sustainfdlcounty.org
or www.fdlaudubon.org.
There is no charge to enter and some prizes will be given
